A tradition dish shaped, functional, bowl from pepper tree timber measuring 270mm wide by 70mm high and finished with Danish oil. The natural fissures, cracks, pitting and peppering of color all work toward creating a stunning organic piece.

A Natural edge platter with edge painted black made from unknown species (it fell down in my garden) Measuring 156 x 70mm,  the piece features three legs which because of the shape appear to be off balance. Finished with Sanding Sealer and Beall Buffed.

Southland Beech Burl form West Coast South Island.  Burl size 390x290x 120deep, Sits naturally with a 20 degree slope on top edge.  Burl cut in half and two bowls turned into it.  Finished with Danish Oil

Turned from the heritage plum trees of Greytown’s Murphy’s Orchard, this bowl celebrates Greytown’s deep horticultural roots. The bowl contrasts the margins between heartwood and sapwood whilst retaining its natural shape. Finished with tung oil and citrus thinners. Dia 250 x 120mm

This work Ancient Swamp Kauri, measuring 90cm tall x 60cm width. Diameter is 32cm. It is finished with boiled linseed oil, shellac, then waxed.  The raw material reminded me of the demons within all of us fighting for control. 

Brown Mallee burl carved with the feathers of a Quail. The inspiration for the quail  the feathers is birds that frequent our driveway which leave feathers behind. This boarder has enhanced the grain within  that looks like a nest 230mm  

Red Mallee Burl carved with intricate leaves that are symbolic with this tree.  The beauty of the raw burl is left as found with the three overlapping bowls to best show the treasure of the wood within. 200mm wide. 

Live edge Elm vase. Scorched, brushed,  painted and gilded.  150mm high, 120mm diameter.

This Yew stump was an interesting turning challenge.  It 'blossomed' into this beautiful flower. Worth the effort of applying 15 coats of Danish oil, achieving the lovely soft glow it deserved.  200 Dia. X 100 H.  Yew, Mirotone Danish Oil.
